Ammonium Chloride (Agricultural Grade)
Agricultural-grade ammonium chloride is a white, pale yellow or pink crystalline granule, readily soluble in water, used as a quick-acting nitrogen fertilizer. It suits base and top dressing of chlorine-tolerant crops and is also a feedstock for compound fertilizer production. Not for food or feed use, and to be used with caution on chlorine-sensitive crops.
Please note: Fertilizer-grade ammonium chloride is listed in China's catalogue of commodities subject to mandatory export inspection, so each shipment needs commodity inspection. Use with caution on chlorine-sensitive crops (tobacco, potato, sweet potato, citrus). Not for food or feed use.

- Which crops is ammonium chloride suitable for?
- Crops that tolerate chloride and where the chloride itself is wanted: rice and other paddy crops are the classic case, and it is also used on cereals and other chloride-tolerant field crops. Whether it fits your programme depends on crop tolerance, on how much chloride the rest of the programme already carries and on the irrigation water — that judgement belongs with your agronomist.
- What should I watch for on chloride-sensitive crops?
- Chloride-sensitive crops, and the young stages of many crops, are where ammonium chloride is the wrong nitrogen source, because the chloride that arrives with the nitrogen is what the plant reacts to. For those blocks a chloride-free nitrogen source is the safer route, and this grade is for the blocks where the chloride is acceptable.
